About DBR Craig Martin

Craig Martin is the 4th DBR of District 161 since the founding in 1967.

The son of an active Steward of the Teamsters Union, Craig was educated at an early age of the values of having a voice in the workplace and the security of a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Craig joined the IAM in March of 1997 as a member of Local Lodge 470. He was hired into PPG Industries in Lake Charles, La. as a Machinist Apprentice and completed his apprenticeship in the fall of 1999.

The first position held by Craig was Steward of Complex Maintenance in 1999 and holding this position until 2005. In 2000 he was appointed as Local Lodge 470 Communicator and performed these duties until 2004 when he was elected as President of Local Lodge 470 and relinquished his President job when he was elected as Directing Business Representative of District 161 in August of 2008.

Other positions held by Craig were District 161 Financial Secretary (2007 - 2008), President of Louisiana State Council of Machinist (2007 - til present), Calcasieu Parish Democratic Executive Board Committee member(2008 - til present), Executive Board member of the Southwest Louisiana Central Trades and Labor Council (2005 - til Present).

Craig and his wife Sharon have two children, Lauren and Tyler and one grand daughter Addisyn.
